Diplomatic Risk Management

I was thinking about a conversation on Randy Martin's discussion
of risk management in his article "Where Did the Future Go" and I
came across this video.

Diplomacy IS risk management and because we have not used it in
a long time, this is even more pertinent. We were subjected to
the good ol' "either you are with us or you are with the terrorist"
motto to "my administration is now committed to diplomacy that
addresses the full range of issues before us, and pursuing
constructive ties between the U.S., Iran and the international
community. . . This process will not be advanced by threats. We
seek instead engagement that is honest and grounded in mutual
respect." (salon.com)

This video shows the evolution of risk management and looking at
the various ways we have promoted protection gives a very clear
view into the zeitgeist of the nation.
